As a small, family-run business, we take pride in offering a personalized, hands-on approach to hospitality. As long-time locals (thirty plus years), we are always available to assist with your stay, ensuring a seamless and memorable Tahoe experience from booking to check-out. REQUIRED COUNTY STR PERMIT INFORMATION: STR 23-7756 | TOT #624246 | Max Occupancy is 6 | 4 Parking Spaces. Parking on the street is strictly prohibited. All vehicles must be parked in the driveway and/or garage at all times. Guest must agree to read and comply with Placer County's Good Neighbor Policies.

County Rules
As part of the Short-Term Rental Permit for this home, the county asks that we share the important rules and regulations with you. We appreciate your cooperation in following the guidelines listed below, also included in your signed Vacation Rental Agreement.

Maximum Occupancy: There shall be no gatherings, events, weddings or other group functions on the Premises with more people than the number of persons stated on the Agreement.

Parking: Parking on the street is prohibited at all times. All cars, boats, and trailers must be parked in the garage and/or driveway.

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are 9pm-8am, seven days a week. Per the County: No sound may be audible from the property line during quiet hours. Amplified sound (such as speakers) shall not be used outside or be audible from the parcel line of any short-term rental at any time.

Lights Out: All exterior lights must be turned off that are not needed for safety or other outdoor use to the extent that such other outdoor use is not an unreasonable nuisance to neighbors at night.

Red Flag Warnings: Due to high risk of wildfire in our area, bonfires, charcoal barbecues, and wood-burning fire pits are always prohibited. On designated Red Flag Warning Days—when fire danger is especially severe due to dry conditions and high winds—all outdoor fires are prohibited, including gas grills and gas fire pits. These restrictions come directly from the North Tahoe Fire Protection District and must be followed for everyone’s safety. It is each guest’s responsibility to stay informed about Red Flag Warnings. They are announced on local news, radio, and social media, and you’ll also see signs posted at fire stations throughout the area.

Winter Driving: Many highways, access roads, and driveways in the Tahoe area can become icy during the winter. For your safety, it’s essential that between November 1st and April 30th your vehicle is winter-ready. Make sure brakes, windshield wipers, defroster, heater, and exhaust system are in top condition. Tires should be properly inflated with excellent tread, and you should always carry tire chains—even if you have an AWD/4WD vehicle. Double-check that your chains fit your tires and are in good working order. On many state highways and county roads, four-wheel drive and snow tires are required for safe travel.
Please be prepared for winter conditions: dress appropriately, stay in bounds at ski resorts and if you get lost, remain in place.

Garbage & Bears: Please do not feed the bears. Black bears are very common in this area and, over time, many have become used to human food and trash. Because they no longer have a natural fear of people, you may see them during your spring, summer, or fall stay. Feeding bears is illegal, and leaving food outside, trash unsecured, or doors and windows unlocked can lead to serious property damage to both homes and vehicles. To help prevent this, all waste must be placed in bear-proof bins or dumpsters and the latches secured. Placer County sorts recycling from the waste for you at our materials recovery facilities.

Office Holiday Hours
The TTVR office is closed on New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate check-ins and check-outs on these dates. Thank you for understanding.

Fantastic weekend
Kay’s retreat cabin was in a very peaceful neighborhood. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms there was plenty of space for a long family weekend. The recently updated and well equipped kitchen opens to the dining and living areas. Having parking available in the garage was a bonus. Appreciated the helpful and accommodating host. Would definitely stay here again.

Just What We Needed
We didn't spend much time in the house, pretty much just to shower and sleep. The place was quiet and clean. It met all our needs. We'd stay there again.

Winter in Tahoe
This property was beautiful. My family really enjoyed our stay at this centrally located property which is close to grocery stores, shopping, restaurants and activities. The property is exactly what the pictures reflect. The home information and instructions received prior to check in are very detailed and extremely helpful. The home was stocked with basic necessities so we didn't need to stress going to the grocery store on our arrival day during a winter storm. This made our stay even better. The property was very clean and had plenty of dishes, cooking utensils and pots and pans. The beds were so comfortable and the water pressure was great in the showers. And the rooms, besides the dining room, had blinds/shades so you weren't awaken by sunlight too early. Being on vacation, this matters and this is rare in Tahoe, from my experience. We were welcomed with a personalized card and treats and a Tahoe grocery bag along with a treat for our furry family member. The home was stocked with great board games and other family games, Kleenex, warm blankets and the little things which makes a difference. We loved that it was pet friendly but also very clean. We didn't even notice any signs of any pets prior to our stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would return back again.

Excellent Property
We really enjoyed our stay! The property was really clean and had all necessities we needed, even a crockpot for my roast. It was me, my husband, kids 17 & 20, our dog. We were not too far from Diamond Peak Resort for our boys to go snowboarding.

Perfect for Groups + Pet-Friendly Retreat
Great place for a group of 6 + pup in Carnelian Bay. Immediate neighborhood is quiet, but 10 mins away from stores and shops on either direction on the lake road. Clean sheets, kitchen stocked with utensils, and 3 well provisioned washrooms. We went in summer but I can imagine the garage being a huge bonus in snow.

Great Location
My family and I had a wonderful time during our stay at Kay's retreat. We stayed with our aunt and uncle and the downstairs worked perfectly for them to have their own privacy. The location was great for us to go to a family wedding in Reno and enjoy all Tahoe has to offer. So easy to head into Tahoe City for anything you might need. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Nice pet friendly Tahoe cabin
We had a really good time at the property. Our group included my older parents, husband and two daughters (ages 3 and 5) as well as our dog. The room setup is nice for multiple generations since my parents were able to escape to their own space downstairs when they needed a little break from the commotion. The pictures are very accurate, and the positives were the very comfortable bed with nice pillows and sheets as well as a fully stocked kitchen with all of the needed kitchenware for having family meals. Everything was very clean and seemed recently remodeled. The two TVs are both smart TVs so we could use our streaming accounts easily. We did lose power briefly at one point during our stay (the entire neighborhood did) and I was pleased to find a very equipped emergency box with candles, flashlights, etc. Luckily it only lasted for 30 mins :) Overall this is a very solid choice for a smaller group with a pup in tow.

Best property
This place is the best rental property I've been so far. When we reserved a property we dont always get what we expected. This one is beyond my expectation. The whole house was upgraded, well kept and complete. I definitely would come back and reserve this property again.

Great Tahoe Getaway
Kay's Retreat was a wonderful place to stay for a long weekend. Close to mountain biking trails (a short pedal up the hill) and only a 5 minute drive to Skylandia Beach where we took out the paddleboards. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need to cook a nice meal. The garage was great to store bikes & boards. We really appreciated the very informative notebook that included the history of Tahoe and things to do. We'd stay there again!

Great
We had a really great stay at Kay's Retreat. There are really only two things that I wish were different. I wish we would have known that a fan in each room didn't mean a ceiling fan. The box fans were very loud and made it challenging to socialize or watch TV while our son was sleeping. The first day was extremely hot in the house and I believe that is because no one had been there recently to open up the house and let fresh air in. The rest of the days/nights we were able to get comfortable between the fans and night air. The other thing that would have been nice would have been to have a toaster in the downstairs bedroom. My mother in law is an early riser, so we had to tote the toaster up and down the stairs everyday. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and we would definitely stay at Kay's Retreat again, just maybe in the winter next time.

What a great stay!
First family vacation to Lake Tahoe and it was amazing. I'm still dreaming about that lake. The house was clean and beautiful. Beds and sheets were super comfy. I need to know where you got those sheets. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us. We are definitely talking about a return trip. Thank you so much.

Fantastic Home
Pretty much everything is new or mint condition. All appliances worked as expected. Location is nice, close to grocery stores, pharmacy, rentals (skiing bicycles, etc. ). I have a Ford Explorer which is difficult to get into the garage, though I parked outside with no hassle.

Great Stay at Kay's Retreat
The cabin seemed recently updated. Everything looked new, clean and modern. We were a family of 5 (two adults and three teen kids) and were very comfortable. It has three separate bedrooms and three separate bathrooms, one of them (bedroom and bathroom downstairs with a kitchenette). The house was easy to find. The entry to the garage is a bit tight, but there is plenty of parking in front of the house if you don't want to park inside. All our questions were answered within the day via email (we did not text, probably that would have given us faster responses). All in all, I would repeat staying here if available
